Have a question? Here are answers.

Why self-publish on Blurb?
As a platform dedicated to self-publishing, Blurb provides an accessible and affordable way to bring your work to life and sell your book across worldwide distribution channels. Whether it's a photo book, cookbook, or novel, you can use Blurb's bookmaking software, BookWright, upload a PDF, or leverage integrated Adobe software plugins to create professional-quality books. With various sizes, layouts, covers, and paper options, you can craft your book to perfectly align with your vision. Once published, you can sell your book online through Amazon, Ingram, and the Blurb Bookstore.
How do I set the price for my book?
Your book's price is one of the first things potential buyers will see, so it's important to balance affordability for your audience and profitability from your book's sales. When setting the price for your book, consider factors like the genre, length, book quality, and target audience. For instance, a high-quality cookbook is typically priced higher than a novel. Aside from these factors, it's also critical to factor in your book's base price (the non-negotiable cost of producing copies of your book), distribution markup (retailer earnings for book distribution), and your profit (the retail price of your book minus base price plus distribution markup). Read Blurb's book pricing guide and use the pricing calculator to help determine your book's base price.
How and when will I get paid for my book sales?
When selling your book on Blurb, you will receive the profit from your sales at the end of each month, provided you meet the minimum payment threshold ($25, £12.5, €17,50, or AUD $30). You can choose the form of payment—check or PayPal—by setting up payment preferences when pricing your book. Our payment schedule operates differently from Amazon’s and Ingram's book distribution services. For books sold through the Ingram Global Retail Network, it takes up to four months for you to receive payment (learn why). When selling photo books on Amazon, it can take up to 60 days from the date of the sale before they release payment to accommodate their return policy.
What kind of creative control do I have over my book with Blurb?
Using Blurb, you'll create professional-quality books and enjoy complete creative control from start to finish. You can choose the format of your self-published book, whether it's a printed photo book, paperback or hardcover book, or magazine. Blurb offers flexible book creation tools, allowing you to design your book and strategically sell and distribute it to reach your target audience. In addition to setting your price, you control creative and marketing decisions, including sharing a preview of your project on social media or embedding it on your website. You can also sell and distribute your book at scale through the Blurb Bookstore, on Amazon, and in more than 40,000 stores with Ingram’s worldwide distribution.
Can I update my book after it has been published on Blurb?
Once a book is uploaded and published on Blurb, it cannot be edited, except to delete it from the platform. However, you can update book details on the book details page, such as description, keywords, and price. If you need to change the book's content, upload the updated manuscript over the old one and save it through the publishing process again. It's important to note that if the new version of the book differs by more than 10% from the original version, the existing ISBN cannot be moved to the more recent version.
Does Blurb offer any analytics or sales data for my published books?
You can track your book sales and earnings via your Blurb dashboard. You can view sales data for individual books or all books together to monitor their performance and earnings. By leveraging the sales analytics and payment information provided by Blurb, you can gain insights into the performance of your self-published book and track your earnings, enabling you to make informed decisions about your publishing and marketing strategies.
Can I integrate Blurb's selling platform with my personal website or blog?
Yes, Blurb allows you to sell and distribute your self-published book directly through your personal storefront on Blurb.com and track your sales and earnings by channel in your dashboard. You can embed a preview of your self-published book on your own website or blog and share your book on social media to promote sales. This integration provides a seamless way to reach your audience and sell your self-published book while tracking your sales and earnings.
How can I market and promote my self-published book to increase sales?
Start by identifying your goals and understanding your ideal readers to inform your marketing and promotion strategy. Build a strong foundation early with an author website, email list, and consistent social media engagement. Present your book professionally with a great cover and compelling pitch, and consider tactics like limited editions or local events to generate buzz.
